The work stream is focussed around the use of open source software technology to reduce the total cost of ownership of industrial control systems for end users. The demonstration was focused on the operational technology, in particular, on SCADA and Cyber Security. Lagoni presented last week at the first 2017 National Grid Design and Process Safety forum on the topic of Cyber Security & Process Safety. As systems are becoming more complex and integrated, the distinction between safety and security is beginning to fade. Our focus on unifying an approach to Cyber Security and Process Safety addresses these issues both now and into the future. Cyber Security is an area of significant investment both on the IT and OT domains.

Lagoni attended The UK Energy Investment Summit 2017 which discussed the challenges facing our industry. Highlights included the positive future for new nuclear across the UK with an update on the Hinkley Point C and follow-up projects. Of particular interest and relevance to Lagoni was the discussion around the future of gas, and how the system operators will need to adopt new technologies to meet the 2050 decarbonisation target date. Lagoni are driving a number of major opportunities allowing for true innovation in this space.

We welcome Ben Hill to the Lagoni team as Head of Commercial & Operations. Ben brings a wealth of industry experience and a thorough understanding of the commercial pressures facing the UK Energy Industry, with a background in both gas and electricity transmission commercial management. Ben’s arrival will support Lagoni’s next phase of growth as we increase our client offering and progress our strategic vision.

Lagoni visited the Houses of Parliament this week to meet with Brexit Minister Rt Hon Robin Walker MP, 1 of 4 ministers for the Department for Exiting the EU, and Stephen Metcalfe, Chairman of the Science & Technology Committee. This was an opportunity for Lagoni to give our views on the UK leaving the EU. Lagoni have a vested interested in ensuring the environment remains strong for attracting the best talent, wherever that talent may originate.
